The Departament d'Enginyeria Electrònica (DEE) was created on 14 December 1995 to support several technical (or technological) degrees from the Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona (UAB). Currently the department provides courses for seven different degrees and has approximately some 35 members made up of professors, lecturers permanent and contracted, research assistants, postgradute students and administration and service personnel.

The department participates in various projects of the state, of the Generalitat de Catalunya and of the European Community; and also is collaborating with other Spanish or foreign centres. The research of the department is divided into various lines of research and as a result in recent years several theses have been produced.

Most of the members are investigating on these four major groups:
• Electronic Circuits and Systems
• Quantum Devices
• Reliability of Electronic Devices and Electronic Circuits (REDEC)
• Microwave and Milimetric Engineering Group (GEMMA)
