Xlab - Materials and Processes for Micro & Nano Technologies

Xlab is an excellence laboratory of the Politecnico of Torino (Italy, www.polito.it ). It was founded in 1999 in the context of a Regional project for the Thecnological Innovation and Transfer.

The lab has a well established experience in the growth, characterization and processes of semiconductors and insulating materials for photonic, electronic and life sceices applications.

The group has multidisciplinary competences because it collects engeneers, chemists, phisicists and biologists.

In the last period, noticeable know-how was gained concerning with technological processes and basic knowledge devoted to micro and nanostructures with several application such as MEMS/NEMS for biological issues dealing with genomics and proteomics through the coordination of the Project LATEMAR.

The LATEMAR (Laboratorio di Tecnologie Elettrobiochimiche Miniaturizzate per l'Analisi e la Ricerca) is a Centre of Excellence funded by MIUR (through FIRB 2003-2004 grants) for public and private research structures operating in strategic fields for the Nation.

It's a DIFFUSED LABORATORY that merges and coordinates Centres of Excellence in the basic research related to the development of micro and nano-devices and sensors for genomics and post-genomics together with R&D centres of extremely qualified Companies.
